Glaciers are in the middle of that mountain. The banded strip of snow is covering one. Moose = invisible without binoculars. Thank you to the older gentleman wearing blue-and-white-stripe, train-conductor-style overalls for lending me his.
Went to Montana’s Glacier National Park last week. It’s gorgeous and changing fast. Scientists say all glaciers will have melted by 2030. Blame climate change for the speediness of their disappearance.
The Blue Ridge Mountains are gorgeous, and so is the Blue Ridge Parkway, which snakes through North Carolina and Virginia. I biked/camped along the better part of it with a friend right after college. Went hiking here yesterday, near Asheville, NC. It’s gorgeous and really accessible. Highly recommend it.
Reasons abound: Green chili, green chili beer, scenery like this, skiing without the lines, lack of pretentiousness and lots of fun times skiing here with my dad.
