Glaciers are in the middle of that mountain. The banded strip of snow is covering one. Moose = invisible without binoculars. Thank you to the older gentleman wearing blue-and-white-stripe, train-conductor-style overalls for lending me his.

Went to Montana’s Glacier National Park last week. It’s gorgeous and changing fast. Scientists say all glaciers will have melted by 2030. Blame climate change for the speediness of their disappearance.

The Blue Ridge Mountains are gorgeous, and so is the Blue Ridge Parkway, which snakes through North Carolina and Virginia. I biked/camped along the better part of it with a friend right after college. Went hiking here yesterday, near Asheville, NC. It’s gorgeous and really accessible. Highly recommend it.

At the Tinariwen — band from Mali — show last night at Variety Playhouse in Atlanta. This guy’s dancing was probably the most memorable part … followed closely by the guy wearing a turban and playing a shiny red guitar, and another guy who was playing an enormo-gourd as a drum.
